Arraying of PEDOT:PSS for Organic Light Emitter Diodes (OLEDs)

Microdispensing of functional liquids is an essential step in production of organic electronics and organic light emitter diodes (OLED). This application note outlines the results of dispense experiments with:Poly(styrenesulfonate)/poly(2,3-dihydrothieno(3,4-b)-1,4-dioxin), also known as PEDOT:PSS.

Cell Lysate Microarrays (Reverse Phase Microarrays)

In contrast to "Standard arrays", lysed cells are immobilized on microarray substrates, creating arrays of "unknown" content (E.g. clinical samples). Subsequently, these arrays are incubated with a limited number of antibodies generating specific binding reactions in each spot. (Zeptosens (Bayer), Witterswil, CH)

Peptide Synthesis

In a passed research project the Nano-Plotter is applied to the automated synthesis of peptide libraries on a variety of different solid supports such as glass microcapillary plates. For the realization of microreactions the Nano-Plotter is particularly suited, as it is capable to perform dosage steps in the microlitre as well as in the nanolitre scale. These dosage steps can be performed highly reproducible at desired reaction coordinates in the nanoliter scale. (Research Center Borstel, GeSiM mbH, D)

A Multiplexed Immunoassay for Rapid Detection of Specific IgE in Allergy Diagnosis

The assay is based on microspots arrayed on a capillary flow membrane with an inherent 3-dimensional structure. The microspots contain natural allergen extract, purified and recombinant allergens which are covalently immobilized. The allergen reagents are arrayed at density of up to 100 spots/cm2 on membrane, each spot being 250 µm in diameter. (Phadia AB, S)

Glycoprotein Arrays

Separated Glyocproteins from serum samples are arrayed and probed with multiple types of lectins to detect glycan structures present in the glycoprotein. (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA)

Printing of organic Field Effect Transistors

Beyond the Life Sciences, the Nano-Plotter opens up a lot. Low-cost flexible electronics with organic semiconductor materials calls for an easy and cost-effective patterning process. While contact printing, e.g. using reels, might be useful for large-scale production, ink-jet printing ensures high flexibility. (Dresden University of Technology, D, GeSiM)
